Avery Blake and her tutu

Meet Liz... one of my very best friends and sweet mom to Avery!

Liz has been there through so many of my memories and I am so thankful that she is a part of my life. So when I found out Liz was pregnant I started thinking of things that I could personally make for her and the baby and when I found out she was having a girl the gates opened and there were so many options available. I have seen so many sweet newborn pictures with the baby wearing a tutu and since Liz was a dancer and its something that she loves I thought it would be perfect. So I gathered my supplies and went to work and presented the finished tutu to her in her basket of things I made for her and bought for her at her baby shower. She loved it! Yay! So without further ado meet Avery Blake and her tutu!

These are her newborn pictures and I love them! Also I am not gonna lie it makes my heart melt that she is wearing the tutu that I worked so hard on!

Project Round Up

I seriously have a problem right now...I keep starting things before I finish what I was working on...ahhh!

It started with this chair which is done but I want to wait till I finish the headboard to the bed in the master so I can take a completed picture.

Then I got distracted by the free china cabinet my aunt gave me. The bottom is almost done and the top is primed.

So I planned to take the weekend and finish all my looming projects but that didn't happen because I started to make these cute little cupcakes I saw floating around blog world.

They turned out so cute! Especially on my new Goodwill cake stand! I can see many birthday cakes happily perched upon it in the future. Anyway i decided to make the cupcakes for a cute little visitor and his parents that came over Saturday to hang out along with our neighbors and brother and sister in law.

So anyway even though my deadline to straighten my house up is looming....(next week MIL comes to stay with us, you ladies know what that means...your house better be clean) I had such a great time with friends and family and that's what life is about.

I linked up over at Sugar Bee check it out!

Going Crazy!

So many things to do and so little time! That’s how life is right now but I wouldn’t change it because the things taking up my time are exciting!!! Last week as I was strolling through my usual lunch break haunt, St  Vincent De Paul, I ran into my lovely aunt Nori. Her and I were just going over the usual things you discuss when running into someone at the thrift store… what you are on the lookout for. I told her I always look for chairs and a china cabinet. So as were walking and talking I spot a cute little chair on casters that I thought would be great to go in my office/craft room and then she says I think there is a china cabinet in the barn down at grandma and grandpas. She grabbed my attention to say the least. You see my grandparents passed away a few years ago and my two aunts are in charge of the estate. The house was rented out to my little brother but the barn I thought held all of the items to keep the property up and maybe some junk but that’s it. After that I bid my farewells to my aunt threw my chair in my car and headed back to work. All day I thought about that china cabinet wondering what it looked like and imagining all the things I could do to it so finally I gave in and called my aunt and she agreed to let me into the barn to check it out. I met her there the next day and she opened the door and inside the darkness and dust there was furniture everywhere!!!! Bookcases and tables and chairs. I was in heaven. I was climbing through and pulling things out, I felt as if I was on American Pickers. So in the course of 2 days I ended up with a china cabinet, a table, and a chair. That’s a lot of painting to do on top of the items I already have waiting. Then to throw a wrench into things my awesome mother in law is coming to stay with us for a few weeks beginning March 1st. So I need to get things organized because right now the guest room is piled with things I have pulled out of other places I am working on. I am so excited I want to start right now…only 5 more hours of my paying job I need to get through! Updates to come.

Happy Valentine's Day

A little messy and a whole lot of goodness is what these little buggers add up to!  My grandpa turned 88 Saturday and my handsome hubby and I had a fun wine tasting to go to so I thought what a great day to try my hand at making cake pops. I started off with one box of yellow cake mix and a can of white cake mix. I baked the cake according to the directions on the back of the box except to make them all lovey dovey I colored them pink. After the cake came out of the oven I let it cool and them crumbled into small pieces in a large bowl. After the cake was completely crumbled I added one jar of icing and mixed and mixed until it was all coated. I then rolled the cake mixture into small balls like I was making meatballs. I also might have had a few tastes along the way… I couldn’t help it they were sooooo good! Don’t judge J Once rolled into balls I put them in the freezer and ran around like a mad woman trying to get ready for the night about 15 minutes later the balls were nice and cold and I could melt my chocolate. I used white chocolate chips from the store because I loooooovvvveee them. A little trick I found was too dip the lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and then into the ball, let cool then dip the ball into the chocolate. It helps to keep it from getting stuck in the chocolate. After that add sprinkles while wet and let dry. Everyone at the tasting and the birthday loved them!

Happy Valentine’s Day and happy Birthday grandpa! I am off to hang out with my hubby…he is making dinner!
