It's Beginning to Look Alot like Christmas

Well the snow is falling and I cant seem to get warm but thankfully my boss told us to stay home and work today so here I am in front of a fire with my Pj's on and dinner cooking in the slow cooker. These last few days have been busy and I have been feeling very lazy too lazy to post.

Anyhow, with Christmas right around the corner I though I might give whoever actaally takes the time to read this a quick Christmas list because you know everyone just needs a little help sometimes. My wish list has gone from clothes and shoes to tools and more tools. So lets get started...  you know in my dreams :)

1. A jig saw to fancy up the headboard for my bedroom... I think it needs some love.

2. A workstation anywhere you need one.

3. Sure Cuts Alot...just for fun

4. I thought for sure we would get this as a wedding present but we didnt :(

5. A cute rug to jazz up the office

6. Two of these to add a great seating area to the office

Where is my money tree?

All these amazing craft rooms float around the blog world and I WANT ONE! (Whiny Voice and All) I am so jealous and amazed at all of the ideas people come up with for storage. I love storage, I love organizing, and I LOVE anything that's pretty... Here are a few pictures I have been collecting. I am not sure where they came from because I have been collecting them for a year now. My goal for 2010... get one of these rooms!

Yay I got my first follower!

Thank you so much for following me! This blog is something I thought long and hard about and I am so happy someone besides me is actually reading it!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Be Jolly By Golly!

Just a quick post... I made a wreath. I have seen them floating around blog world and thought I would give it a spin. I used a foam wreath, fur trim I found at Joann's, and a glue gun. I just cut the trim to go around the wreath and glued away all while burning the heck out of my fingers! Oh well it added the jazz I was looking for to my mirror! Enjoy

I Iinked up!

I linked up to Home is Where My Story Begins to show off my Advent Calendar! Check it Out!

Beach Dreams

Well I had plans to show you all another great DIY project I have been working on but things changed last night when I was hit from the back in traffic last night. Luckily everyone was OK! I felt so bad for the lady, she had her 4 month old and 2 year old in the car. They didn't even know anything happened! Thank goodness for car seats! Anyhow we had to wait for the police to come and write the report and we had to  stand on the side of the road for an hour while he finished it up and it was freezing so by the time I got home I was sore and cold. But happy that everyone was OK.

Anyway since I didn't finish my product last night I thought I would show you a few things I have done to one of my favorite rooms in the house... our beach room. We bought a new bed when we moved last year so I already had a queen size bed and the metal frame for it but besides that everything for this room was bought and painted or created by me! I made a headboard to match the $5 yard sale dresser that was horrible when I bought it. The top was covered in green floral contact paper and the drawers and sides were painted yellow with sticker flowers stuck on there so I sanded it down and painted the bottom white. For the top I could not get that paper off so I took the top off and covered it in batting and fabric just like the headboard! I love it! I bought 2 end tables of Craigslist for $20 for the pair and painted those white and then just added accessories. It is seriously one of my favorite rooms! When Mr. Abbotts mom comes to stay with us
(she lives in Virginia Beach) she always wants that guest room because its so light and cheery! Anyway here are a few pictures...

Days till Christmas...

Well I am already a bad blogger because I forgot to take before pictures! But here we go my first project on my brand new blog! Yay! Well as you know from reading my first post I just got married a month and a half ago so we are in our newlywed stage and I wanted to do something special to count down to our first Christmas as a married couple. I am so happy and excited to be Mr. Abbotts wife and sometimes my love bubbles over a little and Mr. Abbott ends up a little spoiled.
So I decided to create my own version of an Advent calendar. I wanted something big enough to hold my little letters to him and a few other things. I looked at a few at stores and those suckers are around $30 which is not in my newlywed budget right now so I thought about it and I searched the internet and came up with a few ideas. So off to gather my supplies… a quick trip to the thrift store to find a frame big enough to hold my canisters. Found that for $1.50. Check! Off to Michael’s for some tins out of the wedding isle that I am oh so familiar with. Check! And home I went. I gave the frame a quick color job and scrubbed the glass clean because it was gross! I wrapped the cardboard that was in the frame with some pretty wrapping paper and put it all back together again. Then I cut the numbers and hearts to go on the front of my tins on my Cricut and glued those bad boys into place so my hubby cant peek at what his little gifts are attached them straight to the glass with Velcro. The last step was to cut out our names in vinyl and add a few cute stickers I found at Michael’s and wouldn’t you know it… I am in love! It came out so cuuuuuuuuutttttteeeee! My husband is excited which makes me happy and I am going to sit back and cruise till Christmas…in my dreams anyway! Now for the finished product.

XOXO,
Mrs. Abbott

Me...

After months and months and project after project I think I am ready to add my two cents to the world. I love love love reading all the great blogs that are available.  So I guess my first blog post should be dedicated to who I am… Well I am a wife to my handsome hubby Mr. Abbott. We have been happily married for 39 days. With hopefully thousands and thousands of happy days ahead of us. I am a daughter and now a daughter in law. A sister and a sister in law. A mentor to a sweet and funny 9 year old girl through a great program here in Cincinnati called CYC. We have been matched for about a year and a half now. She teaches me tons about the world and everything there is out there.

So on to where I live. My hubby and I started searching for a house almost two years ago but after months and months of looking we could not find what we wanted so we decided to build one. And after everything, it was the best decision we could have made. We are in love with our home. She is snazzy and beautiful. And every once in a while when I am not running every direction and actually have time to clean her she sparkles.  We have worked hard to decorate her and add to her. We have painted a lot of furniture and searched for the right item to go where it fits. And after a year of trying to fill her we are still so far from where she can be. So this is what my two cents in the blog world are going to be about. My home, my life, and all the things in-between. Well that about wraps up the written part on to the part that everyone loves…. The pictures!
